Cyanotypes of the futile sea
11 x 14 inches / 27.9 x 35.6 cm
100% cotton Bergger paper.
Unframed
$250 each + postage or collect in Melbourne.

Cyanotypes made from my late grandfather’s hand drawn maritime architectural plans. These plans were drawn for a ship that was intended for a life long love but the ship was never completed, its wooden fragments now move between shipyards. These cyanotypes are a type of ghostly reference to the sea and our human intermingling. Especially our incompleteness and the dichotomy of futility and potential.
Lines, curvature, drafting notches, impeccable lettering rearranged to create abstracted fragments of a plan.
An ode to the sea.

A reminder that we can rearrange what we inherit with speculative new designs.
